Sol C. Johnson High School in Savannah asked me to redo their internal 'currency'.  They give these to students and teachers who go above and beyond and they can be redeemed for various rewards throughout the year.  This was how it looked last year.

The school had a few criteria.  They wanted to expand into 1 and 5 denominations and differentiate the student's 'stacks' from the teacher's 'atoms'.  In addition they wanted the school colors, orange and blue, used as well as the school motto, logo and images.

I used blue as the predominant color for the student versions.  They are based on the more traditional look of U.S. currency.

The image on the front is of the school's namesake Sol C. Johnson, a journalist, philanthropist, educator, and founder of the nation's oldest newspaper published for the black community, the Savannah Tribune.  The image on the back is of the current school entrance surrounded by the school's motto,       Not to Equal, but Excel.

I based the teacher versions on the more contemporary look of the Euro and reversed the color scheme.  This creates a look that is easily distinguishable from the student version.

To keep the overall feel consistent I carried over the double line on the 5, visual elements and font from the student version. The school's mascot is the Atom Smashers and the 'J' in the center of an atom is the central part of the school's coat of arms.
