My husband found a design to make a unique coffee table out of pallets online and decided I needed one so here is my new coffee table. The pallets were free so it cost us less the $40 after lacquer, screws and glue.
It started with four pallets like this. These are the pallets without the notched out sides so he could use all the parts.
He broke them down into the components. Then he planed down the slats to make them nice and smooth.

Then he ripped and chopped them into a consistent size.

Then there was a lot of gluing and clamping to create this top with a unique offset design.
He doubled up the stickers to make the legs and attach them to the top. Five coats of lacquer brought out the natural variations in the wood and that was it.
Now I have a solid wood custom coffee table unlike anyone else. The wood definitely looks reclaimed but it's not nearly as rough as a lot of the pallet tables I've seen. It has a bit of a beach feel so it fits right in here.
